Hi, I’m Emily Kitchen, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and I've owned my own private practice for almost 5 years now. I specialize in working with adult individuals with perinatal/ postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD; grief related to miscarriage, stillbirth, infant loss; first-time parents & overall parenthood; and transitioning to co-parenting. I love working with parents and helping you feel like a more confident and present parent, partner and friend I have lived experience & am a survivor of postpartum depression, anxiety & obsessive compulsive disorder.

I implement effective psychotherapy methods to instill self-understanding among clients and encourage them to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards life situations. It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the client. But in the end, making small changes to self-defeating behavior and coping with feelings of shame, guilt, and fear can bring life-altering results.  I am a member of Postpartum Support International (PSI) and certified with their Maternal Mental Health Certificate (PMH-C). All of my sessions are via Zoom so it is accessible and where you feel most comfortable (babies/kids are welcome). I only serve clients who reside in the state of Illinois (license #149.021850) and Indiana (#34009674A). I also provide walking therapy as a service if in proximity to my virtual office.
